Strato - Paulownia Shutters

Our most popular range. Real hardwood, beautifully light.

The range

Real wood shutters that stay straight, light and easy to use.

Strato is the range we fit most often in Ipswich and Suffolk homes. Paulownia is one of the lightest hardwoods used in shutter making, so even big panels open, close and tilt effortlessly and put less strain on their hinges. ABS-coated stiles keep every panel flat and true, finished in a smooth painted surface with stainless steel hinges.

Good to know

Questions about Strato.

Anything not covered here, just ask — we'd rather talk it through than have you guess.

Is Strato real wood?
Yes. Strato is made from paulownia, a genuine hardwood — just far lighter than oak or basswood, which makes the panels easy to open and kind to the hinges.
Can you do our bay window?
Absolutely. Strato suits 3-section, box and bow bays, and we template each angle on site so the frames meet cleanly in the corners.
Will the panels warp?
Paulownia is naturally stable and the stiles are ABS-coated, so panels stay straight and louvres keep moving smoothly for years.
Can I use them in a bathroom?
For bathrooms, wet rooms and over kitchen sinks we recommend Endura, which is fully waterproof. Strato is perfect everywhere else in the house.
