Choosing shutter colours and finishes
Nine out of ten shutters we fit are white or off-white — but which white matters far more than people expect once it's sitting next to your skirting.

Match the woodwork, not the walls
Shutters read as joinery, so the safest rule is to pick a finish that sits comfortably with your skirting, architrave and window frames. A bright pure white shutter next to warm-white period woodwork will look wrong even though both are 'white'.
Warm neutrals and greys
Soft greys, stone and putty shades have become popular in Suffolk new-builds and kitchen extensions. They hold their look better in rooms with strong afternoon sun and hide everyday marks more forgivingly than a stark white.
Stains and natural timber
Stained timber suits period cottages, beams and darker interiors. Grain shows through, so each panel varies slightly — which is the point, but worth knowing if you want perfect uniformity.
Colour matching
Selected ranges can be matched to a specific RAL or paint reference — handy when a kitchen island or bespoke cabinetry sets the palette. We bring samples so you can compare in daylight and lamp light before you commit.
